Saturday, November 21, 2009

awards night was T.I.R.I.N.G
had to rehearse our item, prepare the speech for SAC, do makeup, perform.
was a total mad rush for me and shiau yin.
i guess our performance was alright?
it could have been better, definitely, but i'm sure we will do a better job for the concert :D
promoted the sale of the tickets after the ceremony.
weizhen was lucky that he managed to sold tickets to miss lim in the end, otherwise, 100 push-ups!
oh, and many many many thanks to weizhen.
he was a great help ytd. fortunately he was there to help, if not we would have to run many errands ourselves.

happy birthday SHERILYNN :D

bday surprise was 'boomz'!
credits to the person who came up with the idea.
received weird looks from passerbys while waiting for bday girl to appear from the lift.
the scene was hilarious, 7 of us were like crazy ppl peeking from behind the walls.
like peeping toms or sth!
anyway, sorry for the disturbance fellow bishan residents. heehee
though we had to walk up and down with the breakfast not fully digested in our stomach, being an hr of dectective/policeman/undercover agent was still FUN.
we must hav all watch too much drama serials, learn all the tactics from there XD
guess the videos and pic taken tdy will be a nice memento for sheri for life, woots!
not really afraid the same thing will happen to me cause i dont think the girls know where i stay.
though peihua, sheri and sy hav been the vicinity before, i doubt they can rmb :D

just watched the SYF video.
once again, i get goosebumps ._.

interested to watch a dance concert/do a part for charity? find me :D

3 more days to o level chinese examinations.

Friday, October 30, 2009

tdy marks the last day of MOE youth leadership dance camp 09.
no more taking of mrt to clementi followed by bus to UCC,
no more nagging from mr gn and mrs debbie,
no more seeing of orange upon stepping into the dance studio,
no more harvest chew bars to fill our empty stomachs nor bento sets to go arnd during lunch.
hip-hop, make-up course and talk by NUS dance leaders, presentation of certificates to student leaders.
it was indeed a remarkable achievement to head over to UCC every morning and attending workshops of different dance genres everyday.
we know it and it aint easy.
it is definitely an enriching camp.
the daily journals allowed us to reflect and realise that through this camp we not were not only exposed to different genres of dance, but also some skills that can be passed to our juniors.
would you recommend it to your juniors, YES!

mr patrick loo's studio tmr, anyone going?

day 3 of camp.
reshuffling of groups tdy. nw in grp Y with farzana and ruiting.
team building games was up first.
played evolution, turn over a new leaf and some balancing stuff.
scissors paper stone aint my forte.
stuck at being an egg and chicken. furthest i can go is eagle.
many reached immortals, demoralising man. haha
loved the rope game. kyong super drama, as usual.
didnt succeed also act act say we did.
had workshops on indian dance after that.
learnt hand signs which indians use during the dance but i've forgotten them all alr.
their dance really emphasizes on the hand movement and coordination between legs and hands.
took quite a while before being able to coordinate the movements and catching the rhythm.
even watched an short excerpt of swan lake by SDT and 2 NUS students.
one word: fantastic.
and i've realised SDT dancers are usually tall and thin and not singaporeans.
the performers that came tdy were mostly from china.
lastly was modern dance by mr gn.
it was basically dancing the choreography given in your own style, own interpretation and with different textures.
its what Jesper always talks abt, just we didnt manage to get the gist of it and execute them well.
shall give it a try during next dance lesson.
many areas for me to improve on!

malay dance and make-up course awaits us tmr :D

Loon Shin is jealous and envious that i can pon school :D

okay, its not exactly pon. just gonna miss 4 days of sch. and SPA practice tmr.
reason being farzana and i have to attend the 4 days long dance camp @ UCC.
there is a total of 89 participants coming from different secondary schools and JCs.
managed to meet huimin's pri sch friend, lorena.
most importantly, i met my childhood best friend, RUITING!
known each other since nursery and hav been classmates for abt 8 years i guess.
its been a long time since we had a 6 care o6 gathering.
anyway, it was a little awkward at the start of the camp as everyone was in pairs, talking to the partner that came together with them from the same sch.
was separated into 3 groups.
currently a permanent resident of grp C together with lorena.
the instructors are rather friendly and approachable.
day 1 was mainly workshop on ballet, contemporary dance, hiphop and a short talk abt leadership.
learnt some routines and showcased in grps.
hiphop was one of the more enjoyable workshop that day.
everyone was super high and sweating it all out.
day 2 was on contemporary/chinese/modern, asian fusion and jazz funk.
asian fusion was indian dance mixed with a little contemporary steps.
they even had storyline and characters. there were warriors, monkeys, water, etc.
&their posture definitely requires a lot of effort.
stood with legs wide apart for 50 seconds and i bet tmr, my thighs will ache.
that 50 seconds was pure torture!
jazz funk wasnt exactly jazz. was more of hiphop. but who cares?
we got into the grove and had a showdown before today's workshop ended.
left for home together with wizah, kelvin, kyong, ruiting, lorena and farzana.
team building games and more workshops to come tmr!

lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESPER!
sry for not being able to attend ur bday celebration.
PRANKKKKK.
